The Spray Foam 2022 show in San Antonio (2/28-3/2/22) was quite an event for IDI contractors, vendors, and everyone involved. Here’s an update for those who couldn’t make it to the event.
At the Industry Excellence Awards, BREMS Energy Solutions won the top award for Residential Enclosure SPF, based on their installation of Natural Polymers Ultra-Pure Spray Foam at the Chauvin Legacy Home. As you can see on the award banner, part of the project’s focus was on the incredibly low VOC signature of the product, but the second part was due to the different level of job site controls. The first step of the install was much like any other project; use great equipment, lots of prep, and dial in settings. What really made the installation process different though, involved BREMS measuring total VOC’s and aldehydes before, during, and after spraying. Real time monitoring throughout the installation validated Ultra-Pure™‘s minimal impact. For BREMS, the Ultra-Pure™ program was better for the installer, better for the customer, and better for the environment. A well-deserved congratulations goes out to Brady, Emily, and everyone involved on the project.
The show was also the debut of the new Graco Reactor 3, and the new CORE E1 Electric Transfer Pump. Well, according to the contractors at the show… the new equipment is a winner. There are so many benefits to Graco’s new Reactor 3, that we dedicated this month’s podcast to it. In addition to the new Standard, Pro, and Elite tiers, the Reactor 3 also features independently heated hoses, upgraded TSL/pump lube system, smaller footprint, internally heated hoses, and an improved power management system. When combining the Elite Reactor 3 package along with the Core pumps, you unlock Katalyst, which is the complete “drum to gun” feature that communicates between the CORE transfer pumps and the Reactor to help eliminate the largest causes of Off-Ratio issues!
Speaking of the CORE transfer pumps; for starters, they’re electric. Anyone with a rig knows how expensive air compressors are when you need the big ones. Having the ability to move the transfer pumps from air driven to electric is a good thing. Not only that, but these pumps can also sense when you run out of chemical and let the proportioner know to shut down. But wait, there’s more… they’re six times quieter, come with a quick connect, and even work with low ceiling rigs.
Additionally, the show was a definite win for IDI. It was a chance to let contractors experience our BIDIT software “live and in person” in the IDI booth. It was also the first SPFA where IDI’s training team put on four of the breakout sessions, which was more than any other distributor at the show, solidifying IDI’s position as the experts in the insulation industry.
No recap of SPF 2022 would be complete without mentioning one more winner. IDI customers Karen and Wesley Wilkert, with Mrs. Spray Foam in Grovetown, GA, won the SFWW Spray Foam Rig at the show. And while several other companies tried to buy it from them at the show, this one is going to be used to grow their company. Congratulations to both of you and thank you for letting IDI be part of it. 
In closing, we should also count the SPFA as a big winner this year. The show was well attended with a record breaking attendance of 1,518, had great informational seminars, more vendors for the Expo, and had a younger crowd with more women and diversity than ever.
